'96 Saturn, Auto Door Lock Fuse Problem?
Q:
My 96 Saturn's
automatic door locks stopped working all of a sudden. When I try and hit
open or close all four (its a four door) begin to make a fluttering type
of sound. I can hear a mechanism within each door trying to do something,
but they don't. I removed the fuse and they stopped. I then installed
a new fuse but still the same issue. Do you have any suggestions? I hope
this is a do-it-at-home problem!

A:
All the power door
locks on your vehicle have a few items in common. They all use the same
fuse, they all use the same ground and they all use the same relays. For
all of the door locks motors to fail at once is not a likely. You know
the fuse is good. As for the ground it is shared with a half dozen other
systems. So if the ground was bad you would have other problems too. This
leaves the relays. If one of the relays is failing it will affect all
of the door lock motors by not allowing enough electricity to pass through
to power the door lock motors. I guess that would be a good place to start
checking.
