‘93
Oldsmobile Bravada, Power Drain
Q:
I own a ‘93 Oldsmobile Bravada, and the battery continuously drains
itself (slowly). I believe I have isolated the problem to the power
door lock relay. The reason for this is that when the accessory
fuse has been removed and then after the battery is charged, when
the fuse is reinserted, the doors will lock all by themselves! If
this is the case, where is the relay, and how do you replace it?

A:
To
really prove you’re right you should remove the fuse to see
if the battery still goes dead. I’m not sold on the door lock
relay. You should also know that the 30 amp circuit breaker in the
accessory slot of the fuse panel also feeds other items. The list
includes the stop lights and hazards, rear window de-ice, power
seats, electric shift for the transfer case of the four wheel drive,
of course the power door locks. If you want to pull the power door
lock relay, you’ll find it located to the left of the gas
pedal and to the right of the steering column under the dash. Just
flip the door lock switch and listen for the relay in that area,
it makes it a little easier to find. There is no problem with unplugging
the relay to see what happens.
